The Île-de-France region is home to one of the most famous capital cities of the world: Paris, the romantic city full culture and iconic architecture.
The region is divided in 2 parts. The "petite couronne" with the following departments: Hauts-de-Seine (92), Seine-Saint-Denis (93) and Val-de-Marne (94). The "grande couronne" with Seine-et-Marne (77), Yvelines (78), Essonne (91) and Val-d'oise (95).
Île de France is in the centre of the Parisian Basin irrigated by the Seine River. There are a lot of rivers in each departement. However there are not many lakes and ponds in the region
Seine-et-Marne department (77) offers the following lakes : Étang de Brie Comte Robert, Étang de Coulommiers, Étang de la Clarette, Étang de Jablines, Étang de Guignes, Étang de Rosay en Brie, Étang des Varennes.
Notable lakes in the Paris department (75) include: Étang de Boulogne, Étang de l'Abbaye, Étang de Longchamp, Étang de Suresnes, Étang des Tribunes, Lac Daumesnil, Lac de Gravelle, Lac de Saint-Mandé, Lacs des Minimes, Lac du Réservoir, Lac inférieur, Lac Saint James and Lac supérieur.
