The Poitou Charente region is one of the sunniest region, situated in south western France, between the Loire Valley and Aquitainee.
The region is famous for its Atlantic Coast and for the Charente-Maritime islands of l'Ile d'Oléron & l'Ile de Ré. The vineyards of Charente are internationally famous for Cognac. Whilst the Vienne (86) is famous for the city of Poitiers & the futuristic theme park of Futuroscope. The Deux Sevres is a rural department renowned for its green and rolling countryside.
There are wonderful lakes throughout the region. The Charente (16) offers the following notable lakes: Plan d'eau de la Grande Prairie Saint-Yrieix, Etang Vallier a Brossac, Les Prés des Roches.
In the Deux-Sèvres (79) you will find: Lac du Verdon, Plan d'eau de Cébron, Plan d'eau de la Touche Poupard, Etang des Iles (Pescalis), Etang de l'Olivette, La Boutonne, Le Thouet and Domaine de Boissière: Grand étang, Etang des nénuphars, Etang des Iles and Etang des Hypos.
The Charente-Maritime (17) offers: Etang de Saint-Maigrin, Lacs de la Lande, La Seudre, Plan d'eau de Raymond Vignes, La Seudre Chateloube, La Seudre l'Ile, La Seudre la Taillée, La Seudre Cravans. La Seudre Trois Doux etc.
Whilst in the Vienne (86), there are the notable lakes of Lac de Saint-Cyr, Etang de Combourg, Etang de Viledon, Etang de Ponteil,La Charente and Le Clain.
