Location
St Laurent sur Gorre
87310
Haute Vienne
Access
The home is shielded from view by woodland most of the year but easily accessible from the nearest road. We are 1.4 miles from the village of St Laurent sur Gorre where there is a bread shop, hair dresser, restaurant, bar and co-op for necessities. We do most of our shopping in the commune of St Junien—located approximately 20 minutes away by auto. The city of Limoges, renown for its porcelain factories, is 40 minutes from the house. Bellevue Airport (27 minutes by car) and St Benedictine Train Station (44 minutes by car) are convenient for travel.
Interior
The house of fifty square meters is designed to maximize space and comfort while maintaining its unique characteristics. The front of the south-facing home is supported by pillars and suspended over the larger of two lakes. Due to its orientation, the kitchen and living areas are flooded with light while the bedroom is quiet and cozy. Entering from the south, you will find a sunny kitchen living area with a wood burner and reversible air-conditioning unit. The house also features a comfortable (air-conditioned) bedroom with a built-in wardrobe and night stands. The hall between the bedroom and bath includes a wine rack and shelving. The salle de bain has a large free-standing bath with sink and toilet. The foyer and laundry are both separate rooms to maximize utility and storage.
Exterior
The home was originally built by a renown porcelain artist (Robert LeClerc) and features unique hand-painted ceramic mosaics embedded in the exterior walls and a hand-wrought iron door. The courtyard is paved in granite and features a grilling area.
Additional Details
The lakes are sourced from a natural spring and completely gravity fed.
The abundant carp (approx 20 lbs max) are of the Common, Mirror, and Asian varieties. The property boasts several acres of pasture, with about 4 acres of mixed woodland. Our trees are predominately pine/fir, chestnut, and oak. There is also a small orchard.
