Vouvant has a good selection of shops, restaurants and an excellent weekly market. Vouvant is officially classified by the French government as one of the most beautiful villages in France.  Surrounded by lovely countryside and far-reaching views, this is an area with lots to explore.  The nearby forest and lakes are ideal for walking and water-based sports. Nearby La Châtaigneraie and Fontenay-le-Comte are also well worth visiting and the beach is just over an hour away.  La Rochelle and the Ile de Ré are ideal day trip destinations, about a 1hr 15 min drive away.  La Rochelle also has the nearest airport. The ferry port at St Malo is 3hr 20mins away.
