Whilst being in the countryside, the property is just outside the village of Ger which offers all the basic amenities and has a doctors, school, infirmary, mini market, bakers, hardware store, post office, church, bar and restaurant. Ger’s history is that of pottery and a village and museum give an insight into its past. The last weekend in August is the festival at the village where locally made pottery is displayed and sold and there is the night of fire, where the fire pits are lit accompanied by song and dance. Mortain 10 mins away has several attractions, including 2 waterfalls, an open air pool in summer, the little chapel at the height of the town as well as the Abbaye Blanche and the German WW2 counter attack positions marked out in the woods above the town.
Larger towns less than 30 mins away are Domfront who holds a bi-annual medieval festival, St Hilaire du Harcouet known for its Wednesday Market, Flers with its wonderful municipal pool, Vire with its lake activities and golf course.
You are also not far from Swiss Normandy with its hiking and water activties, the famous Mont St Michel, D Day landing beaches, Normandy and Brittany coasts all within 1h 30
